    Installing a world

    Unzip it, then drop the folder into .minecraft/saves. On Windows that's %appdata%\.minecraft\saves. It'll show up in your singleplayer list next launch.

    Back up first

    Opening an old world in a new version upgrades it permanently. Copy the folder before you load it if you care about keeping the original.
